A 52 SL V-bottom from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats with staggered twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines is complete and will be transported from the Bristol, R.I., company to a longtime customer in New Jersey tomorrow. With a top speed of 137 mph, the 52-footer is the fastest full-cabin, stand-up cockpit model the company has built in its 19-year history.”

“We built a 52 SL with triple (Mercury Racing) 1075s,” said Mike Fiore, the owner and founder of Outerlimits. “That one topped out at 135 mph.”

The owner of the new boat, which weighs in at more than 12,000 pounds, is Tom Toto. This 52-footer is his sixth Outerlimits, said Fiore.

“To have a full-cabin boat with 6’2” of headroom run this speed is pretty incredible,” said Fiore. “And the acceleration is staggering.”

The completed 52 SL is the second Outerlimits to be equipped with the 1,350-hp, turbocharged quad-overhead cam engines. The first was a sit-down SV52.  (Read the story).
