On Scene: Nor-Tech Summer Event Sizzles In Fort Lauderdale

With an orange 39-foot center console as the star of the show, Nor-Tech’s Exclusive Summer Preview event went off seamlessly yesterday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Marina. Approximately 100 guests attended the casual event, which included cocktails and appetizers.

Despite periodic showers that persisted throughout the hot South Florida afternoon, the demo boat piloted by Larry Crow of event host Nor-Tech Fort Lauderdale (brother Larry and Bob Crow own the dealership) carried one full load of passengers after the next. The 39-footer, which has become one of Nor-Tech’s most popular models, with quad Mercury Verado outboard engines rode smoothly at 70 to 80 mph over the wind-whipped two- to four-footers.

In addition to Nor-Tech’s 39- and 34-footers in the water, outboard-engine company Seven Marine had a dockside display that featured its 557 engine. On hand to represent Seven Marine and answer questions about its products was Sandy Ballou, the company’s vice president of sales. Nor-Tech center consoles with Seven Marine power reportedly are in the works. Also on hand for the event were Bob and Kathy Latham of Latham Marine, the hydraulic steering supplier for the outboard engine builder.
