Nordic Boats recently delivered its first 26 Deck Boat powered by a pair of Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines, and according to Bob Maguire, sales manager for the Lake Havasu City, Ariz., company, first-time Nordic customer Galen Dreis couldn’t be happier following a day of testing on Lake Havasu, which is where he plans to keep the boat.

“We took the 26 Deck Boat to the water on a pretty windy day last week, and all I can say is that the boat loves some chop,” said Maguire, who was on the water this morning testing a new 26 Deck Boat with a single Mercury Racing 600SCi engine that is set for delivery to its owner later this week (photos included in the slideshow below). “With box stock 28-pitch Bravo propellers, the boat reached 95 mph at 6,700 rpm. The boat runs really well with the twin 400s, better than we thought it would actually.”
Maguire said Nordic has built a few 26 Deck Boats with a pair of 300- and 350-hp engines as well several 29 Deck Boats with twin outboards, but after running the spacious 26-footer, he’s convinced there will be some more 26s coming with the Verado 400R engines.
The slideshow above includes more images of the new outboard-powered 26 Deck Boat as well as its sistership with a single 600-hp engine.
Maguire also said that Nordic is wrapping up a new 28 SS catamaran with twin Verado 400R engines that is expected to be on the water next week. Look for a story on that boat as well on speedonthewater.com.
