Nordic Boats Purchases Hallett Boats

In an arrangement reached on Thursday evening, Nordic Boats has agreed to purchase the assets of Hallett Boats effectively immediately. According to Randy Davis, who has owned Nordic Boats in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., since 2005, Hallett Boats will no longer operate from its Azusa, Calif., headquarters and that all future sales, manufacturing and service of Hallett models will be done at Nordic’s facility in Arizona.

After making the deal with his longtime friend, Shirley Barron, the widow of Hallett owner Nick Barron, who passed away in March, Davis said he’s excited to add the Hallett line to an already extensive Nordic lineup.

“We’re going to build Hallett models at the Nordic facility but Hallett is going to be run as a separate entity,” said Davis, who owned several Hallett models before getting into the boat business. “Besides upgrading the quality of materials and making improvements to the build process, we don’t plan to change anything about the brand. Halletts are great boats with a great reputation and a loyal following.

“We also don’t see them as a conflict in terms of selling Nordics,” he continued. “For example, someone might really like the Nordic 28 Heat or 29 Escape styling and someone else might not. For that person, maybe the Hallett 270 or Hallett 290 is a better fit. The Nordic and Hallett V-bottoms are quite different even though they fall into the same category of boats. The same could be said for the deck boat models.”

In a statement made by Shirley Barron and the team at Hallett Boats, it read, “Thank you to all our loyal Hallett customers for the opportunity to serve your boating needs for more than six decades. We’re confident that Nordic will continue to produce and service Hallett Boats with the same high level of quality, workmanship, integrity and customer satisfaction that has made Hallett an iconic brand for more than a half century.”
