Nor-Tech Seeing Push In Performance Boat Orders

While center console sales have been strong for Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats in Cape Coral, Fla., for more than a year, the company has seen a recent upswing in orders for high-performance models. That’s the word from the builder’s Scot Conrad, who recently worked the docks and convention center at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October.

“We didn’t sell any high-performance boats at the Lauderdale show, but about a month before we took orders for a 437 V-bottom with (Mercury Racing) 1100s, a 50-foot V-bottom with twin 1100 and a 52-foot cat with twin 1350s,” said Conrad. “We even took an order for our 36 cat, which we’re not really building anymore, with 1350s. The buyer just really wanted it.”

Nor-Tech principall Trond Schou and the other owners of this Nor-Tech 477 V-bottom headeed out this morning on the Key West Poker Run.

Nor-Tech principal Trond Schou, the Norwegian owners of this Nor-Tech 477 V-bottom and Stu Jones of the Florida Powerboat Club headed out this morning on the Key West Poker Run.The 47-footer was the pace boat for the fastest V-bottoms and catamarans in the 80-boat fleet.

According to Conrad, the boat sales—all center consoles—that came out of the Fort Lauderdale show—were the best in the company’s history with the event.

“Our 392 Super Fish was the hit of the show,” said Conrad. “The amount of attention that boat is getting from hardcore anglers is amazing. People are coming out of the woodwork for it. We now have ten orders for a boat that we’ve only delivered one of.”
