Some three decades in the making, Nor-Techâs yearlong 30th anniversary is well on its way. What kicked off earlier this year as a Nor-Tech owners event with the Fort Myers Offshore group in Southwest Florida rolled right into the companyâs official gala celebration at the Westin Cape Coral and fun run to Useppa Island. Only those in the inner circle at the Fort Myers, Fla., high-performance center console, catamaran and V-bottom company know whatâs coming next.
But as the celebration rolls on, the growth of Nor-Tech continues. And that recently translated to promotions for three of the companyâs key people: Henrik MargĂ„rd, Terry Johnson and Kevin Lane.

âAs the company keeps growing it was inevitable that we needed some key employees to take on larger roles and promoting from within is something we have always done and is ingrained in our culture,â said Trond Schou, who founded Nor-Tech three decades ago with designer Nils Johnsen. âI felt this was the right time to start handing over more responsibilities to the very capable team that we have built. We are excited to see what the future holds.â
Now Nor-Techâs chief operations officer, Henrik MargĂ„rd started as the companyâs production manager six years ago. Three years later, MargĂ„rd was promoted to vice-president of manufacturing. Since then, his main focus has been working closely with Schou and Johnsen to fine-tune and enhance the building processes, as well as to implement policies and procedures to better streamline production.
Nor-Tech currently has more than 200 employees and production has increased by more than 50 percent since 2015, according to Schou. The promotions of MargĂ„rd and Johnson, who is now the companyâs production manager, are part of the bigger manufacturing picture.
âWe have an amazing team that keeps working better and better togetherâwe have all taken on more responsibility and we are on pace for another record year in 2021,â said MargĂ„rd. âWe have a small management team, which means we all wear many hats. Promoting TJ to production manager means he will take on a larger role in production, which will allow me to focus more on the day to day operations and continue to grow the company to full fill the unprecedented demand we are experiencing.â
âHenrik has been an integral part of our growth since he joined us back in 2015, growing our workforce, production and management team are a few of his accoladesâ said Schou. âI am confident he will excel in his new role with Nor-Tech as he is not afraid of challenges.â
Johnson has been with the Nor-Tech team for 13 years and has worked in everything from transportation to rigging to quality control. he water tests every boat build before it is delivered to the customer. His big-picture grasp of the companyâs build process is unmatched and makes him ideal for his new role.
Terry Johnson, Kevin Lane and Henrik MargÄrd have new roles at Nor-Tech.
Said Schou, âI am very excited for TJ. He has truly earned this recognition and we have faith in him leading the production team.â
Lane, who has been with Nor-Tech for four years, was recently promoted to art director and is âthe man behind the personalization of every Nor-Tech build.” The experience of commissioning a Nor-Tech starts on Laneâs desk and he meets with every customer to custom design their paint schemeâfrom mild to wildâand craft their interior. At the end of their build meetings, customers depart Nor-Tech with a Photoshop rendering of their new boats as well as samples of the paint and interior.
âThat gives them a full vision of their newly designed vessel,â said Lane
The companyâs staff photographer, Lane also manages all Nor-Tech social media portals.
âKevin does an amazing job personalizing every single new build, allowing each and every customer of ours to âmake their own boat,” said Schou. “He has a bright future with us.”
