Powered by triple Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines, a Nor-Tech 340 Sport Open center console reportedly reached a top speed of 88 mph during its first sea trial near the company’s facility in Cape Coral, Fla. The boat, which was ordered by Double R Performance, Nor-Tech’s dealer in Ontario, Canada, recently was delivered to a customer in Nova Scotia. To date, Nor-Tech has built more than 60 of its popular 34-footers.
With four passengers and full of fuel, this 34-foot Nor-Tech center console ran 84 mph when it was delivered—and 88 mph at the factory.
Double R principals Peter Roberts and Raymond Roberts flew to Nova Scotia to run the boat with the customer, who previously owned a 34-foot Fountain Powerboats center console with triple 300-hp Mercury Marine outboards, after it was delivered.
“The boat is unbelievable,” Peter Roberts said. “What really impressed us was that when we ran it we put 268 gallons of fuel in it, had four guys in the boat and it still ran 84 mph.”
Roberts said the Nor-Tech 340 is sure to stand out on the Nova Scotia boating scene this season, and that Double R’s customer is delighted with his new ride.
“There’s nothing like it on the water there,” he said. “This really isn’t a traditional center console—it’s a really sporty, high-performance boat. It handles like a performance boat in turns and accelerates like a performance boat.”
