With the second episode of the three-part NBC Sports television program on the 2016 Super Boat International Offshore World Championships set to air tomorrow night at 5 p.m. (EST), series producer JM Associates released another promotional video for the show today. The three-minute teaser focuses on the educational and emotional journey of Superboat-class rookie driver Jake Noble and veteran throttleman Grant Bruggemann of the STIHL team from the SBI season-opener in Cocoa Beach, Fla., up to the SBI Worlds in Key West, Fla.

As even the most casual offshore powerboat racing fans know, Noble stepped into the team’s new 38-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran for his father, Robert “JR” Noble, who died before the 2016 season began. Noble and Bruggemann ran a strong first-season together and finished third-place overall at in Key West. In more than a few ways, it was the feel-good story of the year.

The video includes in-cockpit and exterior footage as well as interviews with Noble and Bruggemann, who raced with JR for years, Noble’s aunt, Shari, and fellow Superboat-class competitor Billy Mauff.

“Things have changed now,” says Bruggemann in the video’s most touching moment. “But there’s so many similarities (to JR Noble) with this young guy right here. Now my job is to teach Jake all the ropes of racing a boat.”
