Scheduled for this Saturday to start from Marine Unlimited in Toms River and—after several card stops—finish with a dinner-and-award banquet at the River Rock Restaurant and Bar, the Rock The River Powerboat Rally organized by the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club has been cancelled. The news announced this morning in a press release from the organization.

“After reviewing the weather forecast again with some members of the NJPPC Planning Committee members, as well as Tom Healey from Marine Unlimited, we have decided to cancel the Rock the River Rally until next year,” the release stated. “The forecast for Saturday morning has been consistently showing 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. From a safety standpoint, we believe cancelling the rally is in everyone’s best interest.”

According to the release, no entry payments had been processed and all entry forms have been destroyed to “ensure everyone’s financial information could never be compromised.”

The NJPPC Breakfast Run to Captain’s Inn/Forked River will continue as planned this Sunday.
