NJPPC Releases 2017 Season Schedule

The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club has released its event schedule for the coming year. According to club president Dave Patnaude, the roster includes a blend of new and popular longtime activities, both on the water and off. Here’s a quick look:

•Winter Social, Saturday, February 11—An end-of-the-season fun run to Oyster Creek Restaurant in Leeds Point that combines NJPPC camaraderie with “amazing food.”

•Spring Fling, Saturday, April 8—While a few “hardy club members will arrive by boat,” most will come to this one by car to enjoy “an early celebration of spring” at the River Rock Restaurant and Marina in Brick.

•Memorial Day Weekend Social, Sunday May 28—The “official kick-off” of the NJPPC summer boating season happens at Water Street Grill in Toms River. No planning or advance registration is needed.

• Powerboat Rally from Toms River to Atlantic City, Friday June 16—The NJPPC celebrates the 20th anniversary of its signature event this year as it returns to the popular Golden Nugget Casino, Hotel And Marina.

•Operation: Shore Fun/Veterans Powerboat Rides, Saturday June 17—Entering its fifth year as part of the Powerboat Rally From Toms River to Atlantic City, this event provides a day of powerboat rides for veterans to honor them for their service and ends with a cocktail reception overlooking the marina and the Atlantic City skyline.

•Brunch Run to Captain’s Inn in Forked River, July 2—Head to a casual brunch by boat to one of the favorite spots among NJPPC members.

• Shore Dreams For Kids, Saturday July 15—Originally called “Day On The Bay” when it began 15 years ago, Shore Dreams provides a day of powerboat rides, carnival fun and food for mentally and physically challenged children and their parents.

•Rock The River Rally, Saturday July 22—This event starts at Toms River and heads to the River Rock Restaurant and Marina in Brick. Scrubbed in 2016 thanks to poor weather, the run “marks the return of the venerable one-day Barnegat Bay Poker Run Rally and includes retracing the northern leg of original 1998 NJPPC Poker Run.

•Brunch Run to Captain’s Inn And Tices Shoal Raft-Up, Sunday August 19—New for 2017, this event is the second brunch run of the season to Captain’s Inn and is followed by a raft-up at Tices Shoal.

•End-Of-The-Season Oyster Creek Inn and Atlantic City Fun Run, Saturday September 16—With the weather typically spectacular in New Jersey and the waterways quiet and uncrowded, this season-ending event has become a favorite with club members.
