Nick Miller Becomes Part Owner of Velocity Powerboats

Marine industry veteran Nick Miller has become a co-owner of Velocity Powerboats, according to a press release from the Sanford, Fla., sportboat, center console and bay boat builder. While the release did not provide details regarding what percentage of the company Miller owns—Velocity was purchased from founder Steve Stepp by Brad Resch and Scott Tubbs last year—it did state that he joins the outifit as executive vice president and will be involved in all aspects of the business from conceptual design to developing a strong domestic and international dealer network.

Under new ownership since 2013, Velocity Powerboats offers sportboats, center consoles and bay boats.

Well known in the high-performance marine business world, Miller worked for Donzi Marine for 17 years, and finished his tenure with the company as vice-president of sales and marketing in 2003. Since then, Miller has been involved with several boat companies as well as his own marketing consulting business. Miller also has enjoyed a television and motion picture career as a producer with credits that include the feature films “Palmetto” and “War of the Worlds,” as well as an upcoming motion picture called “Windwalkers,” according to the release.

“I am thrilled to be a part of Velocity Powerboats,” Miller said in the release. “We raced against Velocity back in the day and they were tough competition. They have always produced one of the finest and most steadfast boats on the water. With the recent introduction of their new line of bay boats and performance center consoles, my main focus will be on building awareness of what we offer as a business partner to dealers, as well as exposing our products and brand name to the retail public.”

According to Resch, the addition of Miller to the Velocity team comes at the optimal time.

“We have been working on retooling our model lineup and now was the right time to bring on someone with the mindset and skill set to build a strong, long-term dealer network,” Resch said in the release. “It was important that we find a person who was well rounded and experienced in all aspects of the business with strong manufacturer-to-dealer relations. After spending some time with Nick, we knew he was the right guy. We are excited to have him not only as a valued team member, but also as an owner of Velocity Powerboats.”
