Inspired by Rolling Stone magazine’s annual interview issue, the first Speed On The Water digital magazine version with that engaging question-and-answer format focused on the rock stars of the high-performance powerboating world. The next issue pointed the spotlight at women of substance in the go-fast boating realm. Both issues were well received and, frankly, we had a ball putting them together, though it is far and away the most work of any issue we produce.

Focused on couples, this issue—in our not-so-humble opinion—tops the other two. And it came from having the privilege of getting to know couples, all who live for speed on the water, during the years. They work their backsides off to make it happen every weekend, and they develop priceless friendships with other couples who share their passion. If they have children, that passion often becomes generational.
Want to get a glimpse of what it’s like to be an offshore racing couple with kids on the road? Check out the “Racing Family Dynamics” feature focused on the Diorio and Langheim families. Or read the question-and-answer piece with Myrick and Missi Coil of the M CON and Performance Boat Center teams.
Of course, you do need a go-fast boat to be a go-fast boating couple, such as the DCB Performance Boats M37R catamaran and Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 390 Sport center console owned by Alabama’s Stephen and Kelly Marino, the Midnight Express 43 Solstice owned by Kentucky’s Chris and Shelby Mattingly, and the 38-foot Renegade Powerboats center console owned by Mark and Tiffany Maasen, the folks behind Poly-Lift Boat Lifts at the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. You’ll find profile of those boats and their happy owners in this issue.
Of course, there are more names and faces you’ll recognize as you scroll through this 92-page digital magazine. If you’re already a subscriber, click here to access the magazine library, and on that note, it’s time to get started by downloading the issue now.
Enjoy your reading.
