New Silver Bullet Outerlimits SL 50 Goes Ballistic

Built for longtime Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats customer Anthony Rosciti, who lives near the company’s headquarters in Bristol, R.I., and has owned seven of its V-bottom models, a new SL 50 sportboat dubbed Silver Bullet hit the water earlier this week for its first brief sea trial. The open-cockpit 50-footer is powered by the twin dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1350/1100 engines, and it reached 129 mph in 1,100-hp mode, according to Outerlimits sales manager Dan Kleitz.

In its first test session earlier this week, this new Outerlimits SL 50 reportedly reached 129 mph (click image to enlarge).

“The boat was set up to run in 1350 mode and was over-propped—and we had five guys in it,” he said. “We were only able to get 6,000 rpm out of the engines and it still ran 129 mph. With the right setup for 1100 mode, it would easily run 130-plus mph.”

Dressed in house by Outerlimits with its Silver Bullet, the 50-footer features an all-Alcantara interior from Kutting Edge Interiors of O’Fallon, Mo. In addition to a pair of Garmin GPS units, custom carpet and a half-cabin, the boat boasts Outerlimits’ newly designed bolsters, a Bluave Marine Audio stereo system from Waves and Wheels and an underwater LED lighting system.

According to Kleitz, the build took six months, which is an uncommonly short timeframe for an Outerlimits project.

“I think people are going to love the silver,” said Kleitz. “It’s a really cool look that will never go out of style.”
