New Quintessence43 from Midnight Express has Five Verado 400Rs

Named for its ground-breaking five Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines uniquely set up with surfacing propellers and SportMaster drives, the latest model from Midnight Express Powerboats is called the Quintessence43.

Five Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines power the new 43-footer from Midnight Express.

When it comes to five-engine applications, the Hollywood, Fla., boat builder has been on the forefront of the designs since introducing them in 2007. The latest—the world’s first performance five-outboard-engine yacht with two-lever control and a host of innovative features—is extremely impressive given that it’s a combined 2,000 hp stretched across the 43-footer’s extra-wide 12-foot, 5-inch beam.

With this new offering, Midnight has extended its engineering acumen by reinventing the experience of its five-engine boats with the first-ever proprietary and exclusive two-lever control system known as ErgoEngine Control. With speeds comfortably in excess of 90 mph, having only two levers to maneuver, rather than the typical six, simplifies operation. This turnkey solution for advanced five-engine control offers additional design simplicity for owner comfort—just one key starts all five engines, another Midnight Express exclusive.

“It was clear that the masterminds at Midnight were setting out to change the game with this one,” says Tim Ciasulli, a national and world champion powerboat racer. “The Quintessence43 does just that, and redefines powerboating for those who experience it.”

Ciasulli acquired the debut Quintessence43 model, which launched last week. The 43-foot twin-step V-bottom offers a 100-percent carbon-fiber side dive door with an integrated ladder; a carbon-fiber-infused hard top; a cabin loaded with futuristic gadgets; and a fully digital control system powered with Garmin touchscreen displays.

The entire digital control system is operated with wireless remotes to allow the owner to select different lighting modes and to turn battery switches on and off without climbing into tight spaces. A thumping 3,200-watt state-of-the-art stereo system includes 14 speakers and six subwoofers.
