New Nor-Tech 450 CC Gets Performance-Inspired Paint from Boat Customs

It’s no secret that Texas performance boater Jeff Campbell loves to boat. It’s also no secret that he loves to take friends and family with him whether it’s to a local event like the Texas Outlaw Challenge, the Key West Poker Run in Florida or The Bahamas for a weeklong excursion. For that reason alone, Campbell decided it was time to go a little larger and order a new Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 450 Sport Center Console.

Nor-Tech 450 Sport CCIn typical fashion, Campbell, who is well known for his Statement Marine 38 SUV with the attention-getting orange paintjob and his previous boat with a similar paintjob (a Nor-Tech 427V with twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines), enlisted Chris Mills and the team at Boat Customs in Caledonia, Mich., to paint the 45-foot center console. Except this time around he opted for more subdued graphics for the boat, which is getting four Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines.

“I thought about going orange again and Chris kept trying to work in some orange, but in the end I just didn’t think it would work on this boat,” said Campbell, who still owns the 38-foot Statement, which is also powered by quad Verado 400R engines. “I love the orange—it’s my color—and I get a lot of compliments on my boats, but there are a lot of boaters who wouldn’t own a boat like that, especially a high-end 45-foot center console like that. I’ve still got the first 450 with a custom paintjob that’s not a solid color or two.”

Although Campbell, who is expecting to get the boat early next year and start planning some trips to The Bahamas and beyond, hasn’t seen the boat in person with the paintjob finished, he’s seen pictures and videos and seems extremely pleased.

“I didn’t want anyone but Chris to paint the boat,” said Campbell, who purchased the boat, which rides on a gooseneck trailer from Broward Trailer, from Marine Concepts’ Midwest Boat Center in Missouri. “It sat up there for a while, too, before he could get to it but I love his work and his designs and he came through again. It sounds like if Nor-Tech can finish the boat, it might be part of the Miami International Boat Show in February, which would be awesome.

“The new hull on the 450 is amazing, it’s a wave crusher,” he continued. “Anyone who has ridden on one will tell you how great they run. That’s important to me because we always have a lot of people on board.”

Campbell added that the interior in the 45-footer is going to be one of a kind, and that he is excited to see the boat start coming together inside and out.
