Mystic Tests Completed M3800, Delivers M4200 No. 26

Mystic Powerboats company owner and founder John Cosker and Scott Sjogren of Mystic Powerboats Sales ran the first completed M3800 luxury center console in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., this morning. They also delivered a new M4200 model—No. 26—to a New Jersey-based client who will keep the boat at Miami’s Haulover Marine Center during the winter.

A beauty at rest, the first completed Mystic Powerboats M3800 luxury center console ran 75 mph today.

For Cosker and Sjogren, it was the first time they had run the Deland, Fla., center console and catamaran company’s new 38-footer, which is powered by triple 350-hp Mercury Marine Verado outboard engines, with its full interior. The boat’s first sea trial happened before the interior elements were completed and ready for installation.

“With 300 gallons of fuel, a completed interior and a fully loaded cabin, we ran 75 mph this morning,” said Sjogren. “We’re going to make a few changes with outboard drive height and propellers and get it to 80 mph, no problem.

“It feels like a big, solid boat, but it’s very nimble,” he continued. “And the acceleration feels like it’s almost equal to an M4200 with quad Verado 400s. The whole boat, from its beautiful profile on the water to the way it performs like a sportscar, has exceeded my expectations.”

After testing the M3800 and delivering the M4200, Cosker and Sjogren took a lunch break. But they plan to head back out in the 38-footer this afternoon.

“It’s too much fun not to take out again,” said Sjogren. “It’s a blast to drive.”
