Stephen Miles, the owner and founder of the well-known custom graphics design and paint shop that bears his name in Owensboro, Ky., will be handling all the paintwork for Mystic Powerboats. Miles will start with a new M4200 luxury center console—the first of four he’ll paint in the near future for the DeLand, Fla., custom boat builder—this weekend.

Mystic principal John Cosker, Scott Sjogren of global Mystic dealer Shogren Performance Marine in McHenry, Ill., and Miles reached a final agreement earlier this week. Miles, who created several design examples (see the slideshow below) for Mystic, said he’s eager to get started.

“I have always enjoyed John’s work,” he said. “I’m just getting to know Scott and we have great chemistry—we definitely have the same sense of humor.

“We are trying to keep our center console paint jobs elegant for Mystic so they can be marketed to a broader audience,” he added. “We are going to be painting their catamarans, too.”

Stephen Miles has created an array of graphic designs and color scheme’s for Mystic’s M4200 luxury performance center console.

According to Sjogren, bringing on Miles is yet another step in Mystic’s quest for product improvement.

“We’re always trying to improve things and we’re excited for the opportunity to work with Stephen—he’s so artistic and efficient,” he said. “Mystic is really busy. People love the boats, how dry they are, how fast they are, how well they’re built and how nicely their equipped. We think they’re going to love their new paintwork, too.”

At present, Miles is in the process of tripling his production space to accommodate his newest client, as well as existing client Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats. With those two clients on his roster, he’s currently at capacity and won’t be taking on additional work.

“Those two can keep Stephen Miles Design busy,” he said. “As we stand, we’re good for the next couple of years.”
