Late yesterday afternoon, Scott Sjogren and Greg Weber found themselves in South Florida’s Fort Lauderdale International Airport as they made their way back to their homes in the suburbs of Chicago in time to celebrate Christmas Eve with their families. Earlier in the day, they had delivered a new-for-2017 Mystic Powerboats M4200 luxury center console to Joe Gilmore and his family in Jupiter, Fla. A longtime client of Sjogren and Weber, Gilmore traded in a 35-foot Fountain sportboat as part of the deal on his new center console.
“I’ve never delivered a boat on Friday night before Christmas—that was a first for me,” said Sjogren. “But the customer wanted it in time for Christmas weekend and John Cosker and the crew at Mystic stepped up and got it done. They were still detailing the boat when we got to Mystic on Thursday night.”
Joining Sjogren and Weber for the Yuletide powerboat delivery was speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden. He captured the 42-footer, which is powered by four Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines, during its first sea trial in the rough, wind-whipped Atlantic Ocean. Sjogren, Weber and Boden spent several hours acquainting Gilmore with his early Christmas present to himself and his big family—he has six children—before heading back to Fort Lauderdale to catch their flights home.
“The owner called Greg while we were in the airport wating for our flights to tell him that he ran M4200 for two hours after we left,” said Sjogren. “He said it exceeded all of his expectations. And he has big plans to run it over the Christmas weekend.”
