Mystic 2020 Season Demo Tour Set

Performance-boat enthusiasts who didn’t catch Mystic Powerboats’ newest factory demo model—an M4200 powered by four Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines—firsthand at the Miami International Boat Show in February will have several chances to see the luxury performance center console in action this season. The point of building a factory demo boat is, of course, taking it on the road, and to that end, John Cosker, the principal of the DeLand, Fla., company has an ambitious 2020 schedule set up for 42-footer.

After its go-fast boating event debut in the Jacksonville River Rally and Poker Run in Northwest Florida in mid-May—Mystic is one of the happening’s in-water sponsors—the 42-footer is going to head to the Florida Powerboat Club’s Bahamas run (Mystic also is an FPC series sponsor), followed by the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, N.Y., and the Boyne Thunder Poker Run in Boyne City, Mich. Last but far from least on its tour of duty, the M4200 will be on display during the late-August Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest events in Central Missouri.

Hull No. 47, the boat reportedly tops out in the mid-80-mph range.

“I think it’s the best-running 42 we’ve ever built,” said Cosker. “It’s a fantastic package. Ryan Zvitski (Mystic’s production manager) just ran it the other day and said, ‘It does everything right.’ ”

But the boat’s real-world showcase—and true acid-test—will happen in the Northeast during the Cosker family’s summer vacation ahead of its Shootout and Super Cat Fest appearance.

“We’re going to spend a week in Cape Cod with it,” said Cosker. “And from there we’re going to take it to Connecticut before the boat goes to Lake of the Ozarks.”

Editor’s note: Mystic’s M4200 “demo boat” will be featured in the upcoming issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine, which will go live at the end of this month.
