MYCO Cuts Trailer-Build Lead Time To Pre-Pandemic Levels

It’s no secret that delivery times for products from MYCO Trailers, a leading custom trailer manufacturer based in Bradenton, Fla., ballooned during the past two years. High demand and pandemic-spurred supply chain issues were the culprits, but understandable as those issues were they didn’t mitigate frustration from boatbuilders and their clients in need of custom trailers.

The good news? The company has been working diligently to improve and streamline its manufacturing processes and that, according to MYCO’s head of new business development Jon Smiley, plus easing supply chain challenges has current lead times—from order to delivery—down to four to six weeks for most trailers.

“If it’s something completely new to us that may require additional engineering, that process may take longer,” Smiley explained. “We’ve increased the use of 3-D laser-scanning of hulls where we can, which has helped increase our turnaround time for projects that involve engineering. We also have worked very hard on our pricing and have seen large decreases across the board.

“Tilt trailers are still eight to 10 months out for a new build,” he added.

MYCO will not be exhibiting at the upcoming Miami International Boat Show, February 15-19. But Smiley and his colleague Ronnie Moran will be attending the event.

For 40-plus years, MYCO has been building custom trailers for an array of high-performance powerboat manufacturers.

“We’re looking forward to seeing all of our dealers and OEMs in Miami,” Smiley said. “We want to reinforce the fact that we are the still the best out there and nothing beats our experience and quality.

“We’ve been in business since 1974 for a reason,” he continued. “We still have an engineer who has been with the company for more than 40 years.”

Editor’s note: MYCO Trailers is heading into its third year as a Speed On The Water “In The Lead” video series sponsor.
