MTI’s Scism And Peters To Form ‘Union’

When we invited MTI founder and owner Randy Scism to be part of a new video series we are producing for Mercury Racing, the first episode of which will air in March, he had one request. He needed to be out of our makeshift studio last week in Fond du Lac, Wis., for last week’s shoot as soon as possible on Tuesday so he could make it to a Disney cruise out of Florida on Wednesday with his family. Scism wasn’t the least bit pushy or demanding about it, but he did make his schedule needs clear and we were happy to accommodate.

And now it makes perfect sense. Other than Shaun Peters, who works at the Wentzville, Mo., company, only Scism knew that Peters would propose to Taylor Scism, the younger daughter of the MTI head and his wife, Cherell during the cruise.

Peters and Taylor Scism have known each other for three years and started dating a year-and-a-half ago.

“We always had a connection and the first day we started dating it seemed right,” she said. “It’s funny, looking back now at how many people said they saw this coming from before we even were dating.”

Said Taylor Scism, “We always had a connection and the first day we started dating it seemed right.”

Peters proposed during a formal, private dinner on the first night on the cruise.

“There were nine of us there and only Randy knew,” said Scism.

Quipped her well-known father with a laugh, “Well, he’s still on double-secret probation. I’m just kidding, of course. Shaun is a really nice guy.”

So when’s the wedding?

“We’re not in a huge rush,” Taylor Scism said. “With so many events in 2023, we are planning for the fall of 2024 and hopefully at the Lake of the Ozarks.”

Now the TS Motorsports team includes the fiancé of the young woman behind it.
