If all goes as planned, Marine Technology Inc. (MTI) will have a pair of its V 42 center console models in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., during the week of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (Oct. 31-Nov. 4).
According to Tim Gallagher, MTI’s sales and marketing director, the quad-engine orange and white 42-foot V-bottom (pictured) will for sure be in town for the show. He’s just not sure if it will be at the Hi-Performance docks at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center or available for demo rides at a nearby slip.
“It’s possible that we’ll have two 42s in town for the show if we can get the blue, white and silver boat done in time,” Gallagher said referring to the next 42-footer, which has the same power as the orange boat—quad Mercury Verado 300 engines. “If that happens the blue boat will be at the docks.”
With the trend toward center consoles, especially in the South Florida market, it’s understandable why MTI doesn’t have one of its stunning catamarans at the show. Although nowhere near the amount in years past, there will be a couple strictly go-fast offerings from the likes of Formula Boats and Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats on display.
“With Key West being right behind the show, I think anybody who is interested in a catamaran will come down to Key West and see what we have to offer,” said Gallagher, adding that the Wentzville, Mo., company will have a sizable fleet of catamarans on hand for the Florida Powerboat Club‘s Key West Poker Run the following week. “We have a great group of guys going down to Key West in some of the freshest boats from MTI. The Florida Powerboat Club is helping us so we’re all going to be set up at one dock.
“And we’ve got a couple of ‘high-profile boats with big power’ in production that we’re hoping to get done in time for Key West,” said Gallagher, only adding that the boats are for some well-known customers.
Gallagher also commented on the strong MTI presence on the racecourse for the Super Boat International Key West World Championships. From Bob Bull’s CMS team, which will have its 48- and 52-foot catamarans available for the race, to the Broadco, Fastboats.com, Qatar and Warpaint teams, the catamarans from MTI are guaranteed to put on a great show.
