Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., was unusually busy last Friday, especially for early fall. The lake doesn’t “empty” at the change of season—at least until the days get cold and gray—but it does slow down.
So why were 200-plus folks ambling around the docks at Performance Boat Center that day?
Some 200 MTI employees showed up at Performance Boat Center last Friday for the second-year MTI Employee Appreciation Day.
For the second year in a row, MTI hosted its Employee Appreciation Day for its Wentzville, Mo., crew. MTI company owner/founder Randy Scism closed the factory for the day and he and his team members, Shaun Peters and John Teague, gave boat rides to employees and their families from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“It was great,” said Taylor Scism, MTI’s client relations manager. “We had a 50 center console, our 42 demo center console and a customer’s 42 center console, a 390 cat and a 440 cat and gave rides all day. We had a ‘pizza and wings bar’ and the pool was open. A lot of employees brought their families and stayed for the weekend. We also did shirts for all the employees.”
A family of 14 caught a ride on an MTI-V 50 center console during the Green Bay event last summer.
Though 200-plus demo riders is a significant group, it pales next to the 400 MTI employees who showed up for rides in July for the Employee Appreciation Day in Green Bay, Wis., where MTI does all of its hull-and-deck lamination work.
“We did a lot of rides in Green Bay,” Scism said. “Some of those people have never seen a finished MTI center console or catamaran before, much less been on one. It was fantastic.”
