With more than 250 members of the Marine Technology Inc. family on hand to celebrate the Wentzville, Mo., company’s 25th anniversary this evening at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, Mo., MTI founder Randy Scism announced that the manufacturer is developing a new 48-foot inboard-powered catamaran.
The MTI team announced it is building a new inboard-powered 48-foot catamaran.
Called a 480, the new model features totally new tooling and molds and a completely updated cockpit design from the company’s traditional 48-foot catamaran that was a huge seller MTI for many years. Along with a longer running surface and a wider tunnel than the previous 48-footer, the 480 has a new deck and a shorter bustle.
According to Scism, who said the last new sterndrive-powered catamaran MTI introduced was the 52 more than 10 years ago, the 480 should have improved handling and performance.
“When you have a boat recognized by so many owners as a benchmark, you have to study every detail and push the boundaries to raise the bar again,” Scism said. “With this model, we are expecting to take inboard power to the next level. The new MTI 480 will enable customers to take full advantage of the reliable, warrantied power offered by Mercury Racing, and go further in their own boating experience.”

Scism, who enjoyed some fun on Lake of the Ozarks with more than 60 MTI owners and their friends yesterday and today, said he’s expecting to have a new 48-footer at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show in February.
