A new video title “Propeller Artisans” from Mercury Racing has been released from the Fond du Lac, Wis., marine engine, propeller and accessories company. Just 3 minutes and 25 seconds long, the high-production-value video offers a fond and personal look at the company’s propeller finishing/lab-finishing staff—as craftsman and artists—referred to throughout as “Propeller Artisans.”

“It’s a craft and I’ve been doing it for years now,” says propeller expert Ken Schmitz in a short onscreen interview. “You kind of know what you can and can’t do on the wheel. What may work for me may not work for someone else.”
Fellow propeller man Mark Reichenberger takes viewers into a few of the nuances of his craft. “I’ve been here 23 years now and, you know, to me it’s still a learning process. I can actually improve my quality, improve my method. You really get a feel for the pressure you’re applying on the belt, what kinds of belts you’re using, where you are in that stage.”
The video also includes some brief yet excellent underwater footage of propellers in action.
