While a more-powerful supercharged Verado outboard engine isn’t in the cards, as previously reported on speedonthewater.com, for Mercury Racing in 2017, a new propeller for the company’s two most powerful current Verado offerings—the 400R, 400R Carbon Edition and the ROS (Race Offshore) models—definitely is. The Fond du Lac, Wis., company unveiled its new surface-piercing CNC Outboard Cleaver propeller shortly after the Miami International Boat Show opened this morning.

The surface-piercing propeller is designed to maximize top-end speed on performance hulls powered by 400R and 400 ROS outboards fitted with the Mercury Racing SportMaster gearcase, according to press material from Mercury Racing.

Offered in 32-, 32-1/2-, 33-1/2- and 34-inch pitches, the CNC Outboard Cleaver propeller has a 15-degree rake angle. The prop is offered in 14-1/2- to 15-1/2-inch diameters.

Price is $5,783.23 and each CNC Outboard Cleaver propeller comes with a one-year limited warranty within its maximum power rating (400 hp) when used on a 400R or 400R Carbon Edition outboard “for recreational boating.”
