Mercury Marine And Brunswick Public Foundation Continue Local United Way Support

Representatives of Mercury Marine and the Brunswick Public Foundation—the philanthropic arm of Mercury parent company Brunswick Corporation—presented “ceremonial” checks of $84,707 and $78,000 last week to the United Way chapter of Fond du Lac, Wis. The news was announced in a press release from the Fond du Lac-based marine engine and accessories company.

Last week, Brunswick Foundation and Mercury Marine representatives presented of $84,707 and $78,000, “ceremonial checks” to the United Way Fond du Lac chapter

“The Fond du Lac Area United Way has been a fantastic partner to our employees and the Fond du Lac community and we will continue to support their initiatives,” said Andres Gonzalez, Mercury Marine vice president of human resources, in the release. “We are very pleased with the success of our 2018 fundraising initiatives, which have continued to grow over the past few years.”

The $84,000-plus donation from Mercury Marine came from severa; sources including Mercury Marine employees’ 2019 payroll-deduction pledges, the annual fundraising kickball and golf tournaments and the Dollars for Doers program. In the Dollars for Doers program, the Brunswick Public Foundation applies a formula to assign a dollar value to employees’ United Way volunteer efforts and contributes that corresponding dollar amount.

“Our employees understand and appreciate the value of our local United Way, which provides essential services to the Fond du Lac, Oshkosh and Stillwater communities,” said Gonzales. “This is where our colleagues live, work and play, and we are pleased to support the United Way causes that do so much for so many.”

The Brunswick Public Foundation’s additional $78,000 donation is a grant that was part of the foundation’s annual giving campaign. (The Foundation also provides grant money to the United Way chapters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Stillwater, Oklahoma — both locations where Mercury employees participated in United Way pledge campaigns.)

The Fond du Lac United Way provides much-needed assistance to more than 27,000 people each year. Donations support 25 organizations in Fond du Lac County that serve the best interests of children, families and individuals in need, providing health care, educational programs and other services.
