Two days—that’s how long it took for Mike and Angela Goldbaugh of Alabama to sell LATE FEE$ X2, their head-turning pearl-white Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran with Mercury Racing 700SCi engines, after putting it on the market early this week. On the same day they sold the 36-footer, they purchased a Skater 388 cat powered by Mercury Racing 1100s.
Mike and Angela Goldbaugh have replaced their pearl-white Skater 368 with a colorful 388.
But the Goldbaughs’ new prize is not your everyday 38-footer from the Douglas, Mich., company—as if any Skater 388 could be considered an “everyday” catamaran. The new-to-them creation, which they purchased from Johnny and Lori Schillace, is one of four creations in the four-boat Platinum series of Skaters.
“This is a dream boat for us,” Mike Goldbaugh said. “We started with a 32-foot Sunsation in 2005.”
The couple will run the boat, which has 128 total operating hours and currently is undergoing routine service at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., for the rest of the summer. In the off season, it will go to Nick Compton at Island Audio in Maurepas, La., for interior upgrades. Compton and his team completed an impressive overhaul on the 36-footer a couple of years ago.
A closer look.
“Nick is going to build custom panels for the sides, take out the big eight-inch speakers and build panels to hide the new speakers going in,” Goldbaugh said. “He’s going to redo the console (between the driver and co-pilot seats) and clean it up, install C-Zone switching and push-button controls and rewire the boat.”
The name of the Goldbaughs’ new ride? LATE FEE$ X3, of course.
Editor’s note: Speedonthewater.com will follow the interior upgrade of LATE FEE$ X3 and provide an update as information becomes available.
