Can an online dating site help go-fast boat enthusiasts find their soul mates? Powerboatpassion.com founder Audra Moore is betting on it. Photo courtesy/copyright Pete Boden/Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
A real-estate professional based in Charlotte, N.C., Audra Moore describes herself as “a hopeless romantic who always sees the glass as half-full.” The only thing she says she loves as much—and maybe even a little more—as being in love and the romance that comes with it is powerboating. To that end she’s owned several sportboats during the years, starting with a 23-foot Wellcraft Nova. Her most recent boat, which she sold in 2008, was a 38-foot Formula.
“I have been in the market for the last several years to purchase another boat,” she says. “The right one has not presented itself just yet.”
But long before she had a powerboat of her own, Moore fell in love with being on the water.
“I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and grew up boating on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay,” she says. “My parents had a seafood business and I would go out with my dad and pull crab pots out of the bay to take home to the ladies for fresh picked crab meat. I spent many years on the road with my dad delivering our seafood products to waterfront restaurants both on the river and along the shorelines of the bay. That’s where my love of water came from.”
