Always on prowl for inexpensive go-fast boat upgrades—and keep in mind that “inexpensive” is relative in the high-performance world—I received a press release from Livorsi Marine. The Grayslake, Ill., company is customizing its throttles and shifters. Even at $2,600 for the most expensive set, that presents something of a bargain for performance-boat owners looking to upgrade their existing boats.
Built to order in an array of buyer-chosen colors, styles and materials including billet handles, the controls are available for single- twin-, triple- and even quad-engine stern-drive and outboard performance boats. The products are offered in mechanical or electronic versions, as well as digital format for Mercury DTS-compatible engines.
I know this doesn’t qualify as “big news,” but I’ve seen more than one helm station transformed by new instruments, a new steering wheel and new controls. It’s a smart move for budget-minded owners. Worth a look, at least.
