Live Today! SBI Offshore Racing Action from Marathon on Speedonthewater.com

In less than two hours, Super Boat International‘s second race of the season kicks off in Marathon, Fla., and you can watch it live right here at speedonthewater.com courtesy of the livestream broadcast provided by the offshore racing producer. New this season, the Marathon event was added to SBI’s five-race regular season schedule for 2015 late last year.

According to the schedule on the SBI website, the first race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (EST). The second race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The race has attracted 17 boats across the organization’s seven classes. What looked be a healthy five-boat Unlimited-class fleet for the event will be a three-boat contest when the green flag flies today.. Envy team owner Chris Cox had registered to compete but had to withdraw with a schedule conflict. According to Marine Concepts team owner Randy Kent, a thrown rod (discovered earlier this week) in one of the catamaran’s engines knocked the boat out of the field for today’s contest. That leaves the two CMS catamarans and Miss GEICO to duke it out for top honors in the class.

Today’s livestream (above) of the SBI race in Marathon, Fla., is scheduled to begin 10:45 a.m.—15 minutes before the first race begins.

In the Superboat class, four teams—defending 2015 SBI National Champion StihlCleveland ConstructionWHM Motorsports and Team AMSOIL (making its 2015 season debut) are scheduled to complete. Hooters-Instigator and Sun Print will run solo in their respective Superboat Extreme and Superboat Vee classes.

Papa’s Pilar RumFrank and Jimmie’s Propeller and Talbot Excavating will vie for the top slot in the Superboat Stock Class. Worth noting, FJ Propellers will be running Mercury Marine 200XS outboard engines, while Papa’s Pilar will run 300XS outboards. (Talbot Excavating is running the class-spec but long out-of-production 2.5-liter outboad mills.) Both teams are experimenting with replacement power for the class this season, and both have permission from SBI to run their respective engine programs.

In the Production 3 class, 2nd Amendment and The Developer will compete, while Two CruelRum Runners/Five Guys and Fast Forward will round out Production 4.
