Little did I know since I wasn’t at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri for the third annual Lake Race last weekend that Team Wicked—a team I knew nothing about—was made up of a local engine authority and his son competing in their very first race. That explains why there was no information for Team Wicked on the Offshore Powerboat Association website when I was working on my race recap for speedonthewater.com on Monday.

Come to find out, the founder of Ozarks Speed and Marine in Camdenton, Mo., decided it was time to resurrect his 1992 40-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran—the well-traveled original Recovery boat owned by notable offshore racer Stuart Hayim. And in its first race, the father-and-son team of Jim and Mitchell Watson finished second in Class 2 behind Eliot Gray and Shawn Vinson in their Batman-themed 44-foot MTI powered by twin 1,075-hp Mercury Racing engines.
