Joe Sgro Memorial New York Powerboat Rally Dates Changed

Originally planned for Saturday, Sept. 15 and based out of Liberty Landing, N.Y., the inaugural Joe Sgro Memorial New York Powerboat Rally has been pushed to Sept. 21-22, according to Joe Cibellis, who is co-organizing the event with Billy Frenz of the National Powerboat Association. A dinner honoring Sgro, the former president of Offshore Outerlimits Powerboats who died following an accident during a poker run in November 2017, will be held that Friday evening rather than on Saturday following the fun run.

Friends and family will celebrate the life of Joe Sgro (center, flanked by Nigel Hook and Mike Fiore) with a memorial fun run on the Hudson River.

The pre-run dinner we be held at Maritime Park Restaurant.

“By having the dinner Friday night, we can also take our time during the run because we won’t something that we need to get back to,” said Cibellis.

The current plan calls for the boats to depart Liberty Landing on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and head up the Hudson River to Billy Joe’s Ribworks for lunch. Additional details including cost will be released in the near future, according to Frenz.

For more information, call Frenz at 203-918-4661, or reach out to him via email at [email protected].
