Jacksonville River Rally Fun Run Gathering Momentum

Not long after organizer Greg Harris started working on this year’s Jacksonville River Rally Fun Run June 8-10 in Northern Florida, he secured 22 slips for out-of-town participants. All of those slips, according to Harris, have been taken in advance of the popular, casual event on the St. Johns River.

“Those slips all went to travel people,” said Harris, who will throttle Mad Props, his 32-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran fresh off its first Tickfaw 200 Poker Run appearance under his ownership, with Yvonne Aleman, his longtime girlfriend, driving in the event. “Add the locals coming and we may easily get 35 to 40 boats.

“Those were the reserved slips,” he added. “We still have plenty of free slips for all comers.”

Among those slated to participate in Jacksonville are well-known performance-boat owner Gino Gargiulo with Super Veloce G, his 52-foot MTI catamaran. Larry Goldman of Xtreme Powerboats at Haulover Marine Center in Miami will join his longtime friend and client in the 52-footer.

“We have several center consoles joining up,” said Harris. “It looks like we will have groups from 55 mph to 100-plus mph—and everything in between.”
