Forget the mind-numbing cliché “To finish first, first you must finish” or the equally insipid slogan, “To be the best you have to win in Key West” when it comes to the annual offshore powerboat racing world championships in Florida’s fabled city at the end of one very long road. One is true but too cute for its own good and the other is a nursery rhyme sales pitch for a race site, albeit an iconic one.
