Although Sunsation Boats’ center consoles, which range from 29 to 34 feet (with a 39-footer in the works), have dominated the company’s production during the past few years, that doesn’t mean the Algonac, Mich., boat builder has abandoned its sportboat roots. Far from it in fact, and the recent delivery of a 36 SSR to the company’s newest dealer—Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo.—and another to longtime dealer Captain’s Choice in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., proves it.

While Captain’s Choice ordered an all-red 36-footer powered by twin Mercury Racing 540 engines for a dedicated customer who owns a matching 29 CCX center console from Sunsation, Performance Boat Center ordered its stunning 36 SSR with staggered Mercury Racing 565 engines for stock.
Performance Boat Center’s Brett Manire admits he was pleasantly surprised when Sunsation met the Memorial Day Weekend delivery deadline he set with Joe Schaldenbrand of Sunsation when he ordered the boat for the dealership during the Miami International Boat Show in February. But it was the boat’s overall quality that really impressed him.
