Following a late-night dock rash incident several years ago in a friend’s boat, longtime friends and New England natives Zach Taylor and Nick Laude thought there had to be an easy and safe way to light up a dock as you’re pulling in your boat after dark.
Laude instantly thought that a light-up bumper would be cool. And surely you could even use your smartphone to control the lights. Bingo. That’s all they needed.
Taylor, who worked as a lighting designer in Boston at the time, began work on the concept. Laude sold his Cobalt to invest in the business and went to work alongside Taylor testing and researching components for the next two years.
Just about a year ago, they came to market with the underdock LED bands, and a few months later they launched a full line of products that includes the LED dock bumpers and boat kits
