Inside SOTW Mag: Meet the Newest Enforcer

Between the Lake Havasu Boat Show in early April and the Desert Storm Poker Run in early May, the new Nordic Boats 43 Enforcer catamaran powered by a pair of turbocharged 1,350-hp Mercury Racing engines had to be the most photographed boat in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., for a while there.

Built smack dab in the middle of Lake Havasu City, the vibrant orange 43-foot cat with seating for six in its spacious cockpit is hard to miss. The first of two 43 Enforcers expected to hit the water this summer, the boat was purchased by Southern California performance boater Mike Smith, who owned a Nordic 35 Flame V-bottom with twin Mercury Racing 525EFI engines before.

Smith, who wasn’t clamoring for attention at the docks before the start of the Desert Storm Poker Run, said the boat turns heads wherever it is, and that it was especially the case when the boat was lit up at the Street Party the night before on McCulloch Blvd.

“Watching people get excited about seeing the boat is a fun experience, but I’m most happy for Nordic to get the attention it deserves,” said Smith, who has owned five Nordic V-bottoms in the past but never a catamaran of any type. “Between Randy (Davis, Nordic’s owner) and everyone involved with the company, they deserve the recognition for their hard work. They really build a great boat, and this one is proof of that.

“So far so good—it’s an all-around amazing boat,” he continued. “Because this is my first cat, I’ve been taking my time with it to get to know the boat and the power, and get comfortable at faster and faster speeds. Overall it handles great, drives well and is very responsive.”
