Your best friends are those you don’t have to see or speak with every day. Months and even years can go by without contact between the two of you, and yet when you meet again you are immediately comfortable. You take up right where you left off. You are, in a manner of speaking, at home.
That’s exactly how I felt when I climbed into Formula Boats‘ 382 FAS3Tech sportboat during the Miami International Boat Show in February. Joining me in the reunion was Bob Teague, this magazine’s technical editor and another one of those longtime friends. Last time I rode in a 382 was—in fact—with Teague when we worked together at Powerboat magazine, but that was more than 10 years ago.
