In this business, there are way more satisfied customers than not—people who are in awe of their boats after working their asses off to purchase them, watching their dreams unfold before their eyes during the build process and taking delivery of their exceptional machines. One of the latest examples comes from DCB Performance Boats, the El Cajon, Calif.-based company that has been making customers’ dreams come true for more than 25 years.

But to call Bananas XL—the new DCB M44 Widebody catamaran powered by dual- calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines—exceptional, is almost an understatement. At the Desert Storm Poker Run in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in April, the boat, which is owned by Dave and Buffie Megugorac who split time between homes in Southern California and Lake Havasu City, was likely the most photographed boat at the annual event.
Between being on display at Wednesday’s welcome event at Horizon Motorsports and Thursday’s over-the-stop street party to running well in Friday’s poker run, the gorgeous yellow, gray and black-hued 44-footer commanded attention all week long. And for good reason—it’s definitely a “next-level” DCB. That’s saying a lot since the company continues to produce amazing boats.
“The boat is incredible, it really is; I don’t know how elseto describe it,” said Megugorac, who is best known among friends as “Magoo.” “Everything DCB did, even the stuff those guys had never done before, was flawless.”
