Coming out of the Race World Offshore Key West Championships in November with a second-place overall finish in the Supercat class was an incredible way to cap off a great year for the Pro Floors Racing team. Things did not start well thanks to a little mechanical gremlin on Wednesday, but we claimed second place on Friday and took the checkered flag on Sunday.

Earlier in the year, we earned the overall Supercat-class title in the six-race American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship Series. We won the season-opener in Cocoa Beach, Fla., and that got us off on the right foot. That, plus winning the St. Clair River Classic with a broken propeller were two of the high points for me this year.
Overall, our season was one of consistency— any winning season is. We kept up our engine and drive programs, stayed on top of our maintenance routine, kept everything in the best possible shape and gelled as a team. Even when we’re not racing, we have a great time together and Wayne Valder, our team owner and driver, keeps us entertained. He comes all the way from New Zealand to compete, so our performance on the racecourse matters to him. Most of all, though, it has to be fun—and thanks to Wayne it always is.
