Slideshow of the Week: Boden’s Birds-Eye Perspective of the 1000 Islands Charity Poker Run

For a first-year event, there’s no doubt the volunteer team behind the 1000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, N.Y., did a tremendous job. Were there speed bumps along the way? Of course, but there always are when it comes to producing an event with 70 boats in attendance, especially in a small town that’s not used to hosting a performance boat showcase like the event turned into.

Image of the Week: Full House Soars to Victory in Boyne Thunder

For Northern Michigan’s Pete Oppermann, his third time participating in the annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run, which happened last Saturday, in his 37-foot Outerlimits V-bottom definitely proved to be a charm. Not only did Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden capture Oppermann, who was joined in the cockpit by his wife, Kelly, son, Spencer, and friends Steve and Emily Gagnon, Ron Doe and Seth-Doe Nymphie, taking flight in his his 37-footer, the well-known local optometrist earned $3,000 for having the best poker hand—a full house.

Image of the Week: Happy Independence Day!

Besides wishing everyone on (or off) the water today a happy and safe Fourth of July, the team at speedonthewater.com figured it would be appropriate to share one of the many performance boats—primarily Fountain Powerboats models—that we see at various events featuring stars and stripes-themed graphics.

Image of the Week: Captain Morgan’s With A Splash

Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden departed last weekend’s Erie Poker Run produced by Elite Poker Runs LLC with enough rough-water digital photographs to keep performance-boat enthusiasts on social media drooling for weeks. And Boden is just beginning to sort and edit the thousands of images he captured during the third annual event on Lake Erie in Pennsylvania.

Image of the Week: Welcome to Toon Town

Like the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, the Offshore Powerboat Association-sanctioned Lake Race on the Central Missouri waterway is something of an all-inclusive event. There’s a class for powerboats of pretty much all shapes and sizes in the annual OPA contest, which ran earlier this month.
