Even when he’s a couple thousand miles away from his Southern California residence, insurance man Devin Wozencraft is always at home thanks to friends—and any number of Waffle House restaurants—across the country. Such was the case for Wozencraft, who owns a 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran, at last week’s concurrent Lake of the Ozarks and Super Cat Fest happenings in Central Missouri.

During the Thursday evening Performance Boat Center Welcome Party, Wozencraft (left) rubbed images with high-performance marine industry notables including speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson, who was inducted into Bob Morgan Memorial Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Hall of Fame two nights earlier (click image to enlarge). 

In an almost “Where’s Waldo?” sense Wozencraft was almost everywhere you looked last week. Performance Boat Center party, check. MTI happening at Bob Bull’s place, check. Bikini contest, double check—after all, his Wozencraft Insurance Agency sponsored the event.

About the only place we didn’t find him was on the Shootout course.

But that made sense, too. The last time we saw Wozencraft’s 30-footer powered by Mercury Racing OptiMax 300XS outboard engines in Shootout competition was in 2016—and he wasn’t in it. Instead, the dynamic female duo of Florida’s Yvonne Aleman and Missouri’s Tristan Collins-Garvin ran his cat to a top speed of 99 mph.

While we wouldn’t call Wozencraft burned out on his extensive travel to participate in some of the top events of the season—he never seemed to stop smiling last week when we caught with him—we know he’s ready to finish what he started.

“Next week the Lake Cumberland Poker Run and then Lake Powell Challenge,” he said, then laughed. “And then I’m done.”
