From tunnel boats to Jersey Speed Skiffs, this weekend’s Bradenton’s River Regatta produced plenty of action for thousands of spectators. The sixth annual event in Southwest Florida always draws a crowd.

Among those in the crowd yesterday was speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden. The event was, after all, in Boden’s backyard and even with a big week of work ahead capturing the Miami International Boat Show, which opens next Thursday morning, the guy likes to stay busy.
Boden sent 40-something images of the action, but one stood out. A collision in the first turn of the final heat of a tunnel-boat race made for some mighty strange angles that look more than a little messy. As usual, Boden nailed it.
“There were no injuries and both boats resumed racing,” he said.
Still, you do have to wonder what was going through the mind of the driver in the red tunnel-boat trailing the incident.
