Imprescia To Throttle Team Bermuda Super Stock Raceboat In Key West

Four days ago in Englewood Beach, Fla., the 151 Express team of throttleman Nick Imprescia and driver Ian Morgan claimed their first Factory Stock-class American Power Boat Association World Championship. The group won’t compete at the upcoming Race World Offshore-produced Key West World Championships, so the Englewood Beach affair marked the end of their outstanding 2025 season.

But opportunities arise quickly at the highest levels of offshore racing, especially when you add world-championship-winning throttleman to your résumé. Now Imprescia has a ride in Key West. He will share the cockpit of the Super Stock-class Team Bermuda Nuff Said raceboat  driver Luis Martins at the next month’s triple-race event.

Imprescia and Martin tested the 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran, which was rigged and is maintained and managed by Grant’s Signature Racing in Bradenton, Fla., yesterday on Sarasota Bay. And Imprescia could not have been more satisfied with the experience.

“They have all the proper equipment in place, especially for a first-year team,” he explained. “Testing went exactly the way it should with a professional team. We tested through all our propellers. The team collected all of the data from testing professionally and precisely.

“Luis is a great driver,” he added. “It took us almost no time to get to know each other in the boat. Almost immediately, we were making collective decisions as if we were one person.”

Martins (left) and Imprescia gelled immediately in the cockpit of the 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran.

Added Grant’s Signature Racing namesake Grant Bruggemann, “The test session went really well. They went through their entire propeller arsenal. We even added a couple of new propellers for them to test.”

Before accepting the throttleman role with Team Bermuda, Imprescia asked the owner of 151 Express team, who prefers to keep his name out of the media, and his fellow teammates for their blessing. Their support for his upcoming effort was unanimous.

Though there may be a future for Imprescia with Team Bermuda, their present mutual commitment is just for the Key West event. For now, that is his absolute focus.

“I can’t promise them we are going to win the Worlds—I can’t promise them we are going to win one race,” Imprescia said. “I can promise them I will put my best forward. “I also can promise them that if we don’t win, we will understand why,” he added. “And if we do win, we will understand why.”
