From Bud Light to Bacardi Silver, the catamarans of retired offshore racer David Scott, who shared the cockpit with throttleman John Tomlinson, were nothing short of spectacular. In fact, everything about Scott’s standard-setting racing campaigns, from the graphics on his boats to the uniforms on his crew, was spit-and-polish, first class all the way.
For Scott, who was representing Anheuser-Busch throughout his racing career, nothing less would have been acceptable.

Photographer Jay Nichols captured this image of Scott and Tomlinson running hard in Bud Light, Scott’s 50-foot Mystic catamaran, during the 2008 Super Boat International World Championships. The image was processed with a celenium filter to create what Nichols describes as “old-school Duotone” look.
“Shooting the last heats of the day in Key West means shadows,” Nichols explains. “It’s a sunny challenge from the rock jetty with boats because the deck is bright sun and the side is dark. The filter helps bring the blues out of the shadows with this shot of Dave’s Mystic.”
