Organized by Ron Muller of Electronics Unlimited in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., this month’s inaugural Outboard-Powered Skater Fun Run delivered countless close-up opportunities for speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden. Some of coolest small catamarans ever built by the Douglas, Mich., company comprised the 12-boat fleet that took to the waters off Sarasota, Fla., and Boden captured each one beautifully.

But the long-distance shot above could be our favorite. The blue and green hues of the water are so remarkable that the boats in the image are almost irrelevant.

When it comes to Florida water colors, the Keys are tough to beat. No argument here. But some of Boden’s most compelling images from the Sunshine State have come out of Sarasota, his hometown. He’s knows exactly where to go for the most photogenic water. He understands the weather and water conditions. He has the skills to make most of all three.

And as you can see from the image above, it shows in the finished product.
