A little more than a week before today’s Independence Day celebration that we hope you are enjoying as much as we are, Lake Life Fotos photographer Jacob Davis eyed up this awfully patriotic image as the boats gathered at Timberlake Country Club in Chapin, S.C., for the Lake Murray Poker Run in South Carolina.

While he was busy preparing to cover both the Friday and Saturday festivities of the seventh annual poker run, which you can read about here, Davis made sure to grab a photo of the vivid red, white and blue LED lighting provided by several of his friends’ 31-foot Formula Boats models during the event that raised more than $35,000 for Children’s Chance, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support to the families of children diagnosed with pediatric cancer.
“I thought this image would be appropriate for the holiday weekend,” Davis said. And he was right.
According to Davis, the boat with the red lights is Derek Koucky’s 31-foot Formula FASTech, and sitting next to it is a pair of Formula 311 SR-1 V-bottoms owned by two of the organizers behind the event—Mike Hinson’s boat has the white lights and Jacob Carter’s boat is lit up in blue.
From Davis and the entire team at speedonthewater.com, here’s to a safe and happy Fourth of July to everyone on and off the water today.
