Covering go-fast boating events around the country, we often find ourselves working alongside our Speedboat magazine friends/colleagues. This weekend is no exception, as Speedonthewater.com’s Jason Johnson and Speedboat’s Ray Lee are in Discovery Bay, Calif., to cover the annual Big Cat Poker Run on the Sacramento River Delta. To say we all get along really well is an understatement—we’re even “sharing a photographer,” Erick Bryner of Firedrill Productions, for the weekend.
As the image above from this weekend’s Discovery Bay Poker Run proves, we’ll let pretty much anyone—even Speedboat magazine’s Ray Lee—put a worthless sticker on the back of our trailer (click image to enlarge).
Of course, no work weekend with our friendly competitors would be complete without a little ribbing or maybe even a good-natured practical joke. Score one for Lee, who managed to apply a Speedboat magazine sticker on our Speedonthewater.com promotional trailer during event registration last night when Johnson wasn’t looking.
As you can see from the image above, Johnson was unfazed. No doubt, he’s already plotting revenge for when we all meet again for the Florida Powerboat Club’s annual Key West Poker and concurrent Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in November.
We think the Speedboat magazine sticker looks good there—maybe even perfect—right where it belongs on the back of our trailer at the bottom of a bunch of far more attractive and less worthless stickers. So rather than waste good soap and water to remove it, we’re going to keep it.
