A little more than a week ago, an impressive fleet of MTI stern-drive catamarans, outboard engine-powered sport catamarans and high-performance center consoles descended on Gilbert’s Resort and Tiki Bar in Key Largo, Fla., during the Wentzville, Mo., company’s fourth annual Fun Run to the Florida Keys. The fleet’s ultimate destination for the weekend was the Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club in Marathon.

Having been to Gilbert’s more than a few times during the year for various events—for years it’s been a popular lunch for Florida Powerboat Club happenings—we’ve seen some amazing go-fast powerboat fleets. But last week’s single-brand flotilla was particularly breathtaking.
Asked if he’d imagined such a fleet MTI when he founded MTI in 1999, company principal Randy Scism simply said, “No way.” But his pride was as obvious as it was appropriate as he surveyed the docks at Gilbert’s.
There are lots of fun games, especially counting the outboards, you can play with the image above. Or you can just enjoy it for what it is.
A massive success story for Scism and company.
